
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A total of 135 newly enlisted Army privates completed their Operations Orientation Course in Mawab, Davao de Oro, culminating in a demonstration of close-quarter battle and hostage rescue skills.
The graduates of Class 02-2026, composed of 122 men and 13 women, held their closing ceremony on Saturday, July 4, at the 10th Division Training School in Barangay Tuboran.
Maj. Ruben Gadut, chief of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID) Public Affairs Office, gave these pieces of information to the Inquirer.

To mark the culmination of the course, the soldiers showed their combat readiness through a realistic capability demonstration.

The exercise featured Arnis and Pekiti-Tirsia Kali martial arts, alongside tactical vehicle infiltration, movement formations, wall assault techniques, room-clearing procedures, and hostage rescue operations.
Gadut said Col. Ronaldo Valdez, deputy commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, attended the ceremony as the guest of honor and speaker.
Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, 10ID commander, pointed out that the completion of the training marks the beginning of the graduates’ commitment to serving the country with honor and professionalism.
“I commend our 135 new privates for successfully completing the Operations Orientation Course. This training is the foundation of your profession as soldiers and has prepared you for the demands of military service,” Gadut quoted Luzon as saying.

Luzon also urged the newly trained soldiers to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity and selfless service as they join the division’s operational units to protect the people and preserve peace.
Following their graduation, Gadut said the privates will be deployed to various subordinate units of the 10ID to bolster its operational capabilities.

The deployment will enhance mission readiness and support the Army’s mandate of defending the country’s territorial integrity, as the 10ID remains immersed in external security operations while sustaining its insurgency-free area of operations, he added. /apl
