
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Air Force Reserve Brig. Gen. Michael “Mikee” L. Romero, a formerHouse deputy speaker, has been recognized as among Outstanding Leaders in Asia for his multiple successes that have influenced a broader mindset shift for sustainable growth beyond corporate boundaries.
“Brigadier General Romero exemplifies a leader whose multifaceted impact redefines leadershipstandards, setting a benchmark for future generations,” the ACES Awards 2026 said in its officialstatement.
A celebrated sportsman, sports patron, and businessman, Romero was a legislator whose three terms in Congress, a total of nine years, were capped last year by his service as House committee chairman on poverty alleviation.

For the past 12 months, he has devoted time to humanitarian service, leading the Philippine Reservist Movement as chairman of the Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines.
His work included a focus on hard-to-access marginalized communities in sentinel islands in Batanes and Sulu, strife-ravaged communities, and indigenous communities, earning him awards and citations from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Recently, he was named Reservist No. 1 by the AFP-Joint Special Operations Command during the Donning of Tan Beret rites at Camp Aguinaldo.
ACES Awards cited Romero as the visionary chairman of Mikro-Tech Capital Inc., whose transformative leadership across multiple sectors manifests his unwavering commitment to nation-building.

His pioneering approach in port infrastructure has significantly enhanced island connectivity in thePhilippines, facilitating economic growth and regional integration, the award statement added.
