
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Authorities from Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station confiscated ₱2.6 million worth of smuggled cigarettes.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at around 3 a.m., they received a call from Guihulngan City Police Station, requesting the conduct of “Oplan Tambayayong” in coordination with the personnel from the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG).
They then pursued two vehicles carrying allegedly smuggled cigarettes.

The two vehicles were identified as black and maroon Toyota Revos traveling from Guihulngan City to Vallehermoso.
Due to this, Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station immediately administered a checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion, Vellehermoso town.
Accidents stop alleged smugglers
At the checkpoint, the operating personnel received information from a concerned citizen regarding vehicular accidents involving the vehicles for which they were looking.
The black vehicle was involved in an accident in Barangay Puan, after its driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the roadside.
Due to the impact, several cases of the smuggled cigarettes were thrown onto the road.

The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside. He was rescued and brought to Vallehermoso Rural Health Unit for immediate medical treatment, while its passenger was detained by the police.
Meanwhile, the maroon vehicle crashed into the railings by the road.
Its driver and passenger were injured, brought to Vallehermoso Rural Health Unit, and placed under hospital arrest.
