The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Aero Contractors, Captain Ado Sanusi, has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and private sector operators in the aviation industry, saying such partnerships are critical to the sector’s growth and Nigeria’s economic development.
Sanusi made the call when the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hadiza Bala Usman, paid a working visit to Aero Contractors and toured the airline’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
The visit, according to the airline, provided an opportunity to showcase Aero Contractors’ engineering capabilities and its contributions to the development of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Speaking after the facility tour, Sanusi described Bala Usman’s visit as significant, noting that it underscored the importance of constructive engagement between policymakers and industry players.
“It was an honour to welcome Hadiza Bala Usman to Aero Contractors. I had the pleasure of taking her on a tour of our operations—and in particular our Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre, which continues to position Aero Contractors as a strategic aviation asset capable of supporting operators across West and Central Africa,” he said.
Sanusi commended the presidential adviser for her keen interest in understanding the challenges and opportunities within the aviation industry, despite not having an aviation background.
“What impressed me most was not only her genuine curiosity and the depth of her questions, but her sincere interest in how government can better support the growth of our aviation industry. Though not an aviator by background, her command of policy, performance and institutional development was evident throughout—a reflection of the results-driven mandate she leads at the CRDCU,” he said.
He stressed that closer cooperation between the government and the private sector would create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish while contributing more significantly to national development.
“Her visit reinforced the value of constructive collaboration between government and industry. When public servants engage directly with stakeholders, ask the right questions and focus on practical solutions, they help create the environment in which businesses thrive and contribute even more to national development,” Sanusi said.
He expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria’s aviation industry, adding that dedicated public officials would play an important role in driving reforms and improving service delivery.
According to Aero Contractors, Bala Usman was impressed by the equipment, facilities and technical personnel at the airline’s MRO centre, which provides maintenance services to airlines in Nigeria and across the West and Central African region.
The airline said the visit highlighted its commitment to advancing the aviation sector through innovation, engineering excellence and strategic collaboration.
“The maintenance centre has provided decades of engineering expertise, backed by internationally recognised standards and a team of highly skilled professionals dedicated to excellent service. Every aircraft maintained in our MRO reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and the continued growth of African aviation,” the airline said.
