MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said on Monday that medical checkups for Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, which are part of the booking procedures, will take two days.
In the meantime, the senator will stay at the Philippine National Police General Hospital for the medical examinations.
In a briefing following the Sandiganbayan’s issuance of Marcoleta’s arrest warrant over his plunder case, Remulla said the senator is already undergoing a medical checkup at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Remulla noted that considering Marcoleta’s age, 72, he will undergo various tests, such as blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG), “to ensure his fitness.”
“We don’t know when that will be completed, but hopefully, within the next two days all their examinations will be completed for full health, which we will report to the Sandiganbayan,” Remulla said, adding:
“Don’t rush us. Give us time to get the full picture of his health.”

Remulla also said that Marcoleta’s mugshots will be released within the day.
“We are not here to humiliate anyone. Whatever the condition of his hair, we will not be ashamed. His picture will be taken as is as he appears in public,” Remulla said.
