
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has advised motorists to expect heavier traffic in parts of Manila, Quezon City and Parañaque City because of some road constructions.
In an advisory, the MMDA said the projects will span from July to as late as December.
The activities were either already started or set to be implemented by several government agencies and utility companies.

“Motorists are advised to take alternate routes and allow extra travel time in the affected areas,” the agency said.

One of the projects is the rehabilitation and major repair of the Legarda Bridge in Manila by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which started last week, June 30, and will last until Sept. 20.
The DPWH also began preventive maintenance works on several roads in Manila on July 6:
Vicente Cruz St. (between G. Tuazon St. and Lardizabal St.) – until Sept. 18
Manga St. (Piña Ave. to Buenos Aires St.) – until July 25
M. Dela Fuente St. (España Blvd. to Magsaysay Blvd.) – until Dec. 1
Ma. Clara St. (between Dimasalang St. and Maceda St.) – until Aug. 31
Blumentritt Road (between Dapitan St. and M.J. Santonio St.) – until Sept. 12
Dapitan St. (between A. Mendoza St. and A.H. Lacson Ave.) – until Aug. 28
The Department of Transportation (DOTr), meanwhile, is continuing the installation of a storm drainage network system for MRT-7 Station 11 along Quirino Highway in Brgy. Greater Lagro in Quezon City until Dec. 27.

MRT-7 electrical works, including the installation of high-bay lighting and scaffold dismantling, are in progress along Commonwealth Ave. between Regalado Ave. and Fairlane St. until July 30.

Meralco also started replacing and installing concrete poles, wires, and related accessories along Timog Ave., between Scout Tobias and Scout Tuazon, and along Kalayaan Ave., between Masigla Extension and Maparaan St..
Both works are scheduled to last until Aug. 5.
The local government of Quezon City, for its part, has commenced the construction of a box culvert for the drainage system along G. Araneta Ave., from Del Monte Ave. to Mauban St. in Brgy. Manresa.
The project is expected to be completed by Dec. 2.
Globe Telecom Inc., meanwhile, is carrying out the underground installation of fiber optic cables through horizontal directional drilling along the West Service Road, between the Petron Gas Station and Sun Valley Road in Parañaque City until Oct. 3. /apl
