“Keep the NDRRMC and RDRRMC (Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council) response clusters on standby; conduct a strong and widespread alert, warning, and information campaign across all channels and platforms; implement preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas; secure safe evacuation centers; and set up designated areas for livestock and equipment,” Castro said, enumerating orders from the NDRRMC.
The NDRRMC also directed the prepositioning of rescue teams, relief goods, and essential supplies, as well as the identification of alternate routes and the enforcement of sea travel bans, she added.
Moreover, Castro said the council instructed the inspection of critical infrastructure, the provision of early assistance to vulnerable sectors, and the monitoring of public health risks, such as flood-related diseases.
“This is a whole-of-government approach, so all involved agencies are required to act — that is the President’s directive,” she said./coa
