MANILA, Philippines — Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico confirmed on Monday that Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was rushed to the PNP General Hospital after suffering from chest pain and high blood pressure.
The CIDG chief told reporters in an ambush interview that Senator Marcoleta’s complaints of high blood pressure and chest pain prompted his immediate transfer to the hospital.

“After his medical assessment, whatever the PNP doctors say, we will also relay it to the Sandiganbayan,” Morico told reporters.
Earlier, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that Marcoleta’s medical examination, conducted as part of the booking process, is expected to take two days.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Sandiganbayan Third Division in connection with a plunder case accusing Marcoleta of receiving P75 million in campaign contributions.
