Harry Styles Shares How He’s Honoring Liam Payne More Than One Year After Bandmate’s Death

Harry Styles knows just how fast the night changes.

As the One Direction alum made history with the longest run of concerts at Wembley Stadium with 12 dates of his Together, Together Tour, he was grateful he had his late bandmate Liam Payne's family at his final London date.

Indeed, Payne's parents Geoff Payne and Karen Payne, as well as his sister Ruth Gibbins and nephew Ashton, were seen supporting Styles at the July 4 concert in fan videos circulating on social media.

The "Watermelon Sugar" singer—whose older sister Gemma Styles congratulated him onstage for breaking Coldplay's 2025 10-show record—reflected on the story of his life with Payne and fellow former bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik before singing "Carla's Song."

"I wouldn't be on this stage if it wasn't for four friends of mine that were a massive part of this journey," he told fans in videos on social media. "I want to thank Niall, Louis, Zayn and my dear friend Liam. These nights and everything that I've learned in this time, the friendships, everything, none of this would be possible. I wouldn't be here without you."

"Thank you so much," Styles added. "All of the people who've helped me along the way, a lot of them are here tonight. My friends, my family, thank you so, so much."

Geoff, Karen and Ruth's attendance comes more than one year after Payne died from a fall from his Argentina hotel balcony in October 2024. Styles previously admitted that navigating his friend's unexpected death was made harder by their high-profile lives.

"There was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with acknowledging how strange it is to have people own part of your grief in a way," he explained on Apple Music's The Zane Lowe Show in March. "There's a desire from other people of you to convey that in some way, or it means you're not feeling what you're feeling or something."

"It's so difficult to lose a friend," the 32-year-old continued. "It's difficult to lose any friend, but it's so difficult to lose a friend who is so like you in so many ways. I saw someone with the kindest heart who just wanted to be great."

Styles ultimately took it as a sign to reprioritize what's most important in his life.

"The greatest way you can honor your friends who pass away," he concluded, "is by living your life to the fullest."
