Olympic weightlifter Pizzolato convicted of gang rape of tourist

Italy's Antonino Pizzolato, bronze

medalist in weightlifting at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024

Olympics, was sentenced Monday by a Trapani court to 5 years and

4 months in prison for gang raping a 27-year-old Finnish tourist

four year ago.

The other three defendants, Davide Lupo, Claudio Tutino, and

Stefano Mongiovì, all from Agrigento, were also convicted and

got the same term.

The four were reported by the tourist who said she was raped in

Agrigento on July 22, 2022.
