
MANILA, Philippines — The prosecution in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial has requested the issuance of subpoenas for the financial records of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.
The request by the House prosecution panel, specifically, subpoenas duces tecum requires the branch managers of the following banks to testify before the impeachment court:
BPI Julia Vargas Branch
BPI GreenHills Elsa Branch
Philippine Savings Bank Wilson Branch
BDO Unibank Inc. Davao CM Recto Branch
Metro Bank Davao Ecoland Branch
BDO Unibank Davao Rizal Branch
Security Bank Bicutan Branch
Land Bank San Pedro Branch
Philippine Savings Bank Davao MADR Branch
Subpoena duces tecum compels witnesses to bring specific documents, records, or physical evidence to a legal proceeding.

Under the request for subpoena, the bank managers will be required to submit to the clerk of the impeachment court certified true copies of all records, documents, books, papers, electronic data, communications and information in the possession, custody or control of the bank relating to any account deposit, investment, trust, loan, safety deposit or other financial transactions maintained, open, closed, controlled, beneficially owned or jointly held Duterte and her husband from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2025.
AMLC
Apart from bank records, the prosecution panel also requested the issuance of the same subpoenas against Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) chair Eli Remolona, Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura, requiring them or their authorized representatives to submit to the clerk of court certified copies of the following:
Reports of covert transactions and suspicious transactions filed by banks and all other financial institutions involving Duterte and her husband covering the period of 2006 to 2025.
Any and all investigation reports or related reports or documents prepared by the AMLC involving the reported covert transactions or suspicious transactions and electronic copies, including Microsoft Excel files, database extracts or machine-readable formats of AMLC, cash transaction reports and suspicious transaction reports for the period 2007 to 2025 involving Duterte and Carpio.

The Senate impeachment court, through presiding officer Sen. Francis Escudero, then granted both parties five days to file their comments and positions on the matter.
An oral argument will also be set to tackle the request. /cb
