The Zamfara State Government has commenced steps to revive the school feeding programme as part of efforts to improve access to education and pupils’ welfare.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abdulmalik Gajam, received members of the implementation team at his office in Gusau, where preparations for the rollout of the programme were discussed.
According to the commissioner, the team presented implementation materials, including food coolers and other essential items, signalling the commencement of the implementation phase.
He said he was also briefed on a three-day stakeholders’ training scheduled for August 6 to 8, 2026, to be organised by development partners in collaboration with the ministry.

Gajam said the training would strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to ensure transparent and efficient implementation of the programme.
He added that the school feeding programme would improve enrolment, attendance, retention and the overall well-being of schoolchildren.
The commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to building a more inclusive and effective education system in the state.
