
The Bauchi State Police Command has disclosed that it’s operatives arrested four suspects in separate operations and recovered a stolen vehicle and a motorcycle in Bauchi State.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statements issued on Sunday.
According to the statement which read in parts, the command recovered a stolen green Opel Vectra with registration number AH 232 AKK and arrested three suspects linked to the theft.
Habib said the command received a distress call on June 29, 2026, from a good Samaritan reporting that unknown persons had stolen the vehicle belonging to Mu’azu, a resident of Katsinawa Village along Jos Road in Bauchi.
He said the Divisional Police Officer of ‘E’ Division immediately deployed a team, which intercepted the vehicle at Dorawan Dillalai and arrested one suspect.
“Acting on the information, the DPO ‘E’ Division promptly mobilised his team and intercepted the said vehicle around Dorawan Dillalai. One suspect was arrested and the vehicle recovered,” the statement further read.
The police spokesperson said detectives subsequently extended the investigation to Gombe State, where they arrested two additional suspects identified as Abubakar Musa, 46, and Usman Abubakar, 30, who were allegedly negotiating to purchase the stolen vehicle.
According to him, the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted that it was not their first involvement in such an offence.

In a separate operation conducted on July 4, 2026, police operatives attached to ‘E’ Division, Yelwa, intercepted a 28-year-old suspect, Hafiz Ahmad of Karofin Madaki, during a routine patrol around Yelwan Kagadama.
Habib said the suspect was riding an unregistered black Jiacheng ladies motorcycle valued at N450,000.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to having stolen the motorcycle from Unguwar Kusu in the Yelwa area of Bauchi,” he stated.
He added that further investigation led officers to the rightful owner, a 23-year-old resident of the Federal Low-Cost Housing Estate identified simply as Mohammed, who presented documents confirming ownership before the motorcycle was released to him.
The police spokesperson said further investigations into both cases were ongoing, adding that all the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of the investigations.
Habib said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response.
The commissioner also urged members of the public to properly document their vehicles and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
