
COTABATO CITY – Police authorities in Kabacan, Cotabato arrested on Monday a 60-year-old man accused of bringing a female elementary student inside a motel allegedly to sexually abuse her.
Lt. Colonel April Lou Palma, police chief of the Kabacan municipal police station, said the senior citizen was arrested Monday afternoon in the village of Katidtuan after a resident tipped the police about his presence there.

Police found an unlicensed gun, a sachet of suspected shabu, and personal belongings from the suspect’s sling bag. He did not resist arrest.

Palma said the same man was captured on CCTV entering a motel in Kabacan on Friday, July 3, introducing the girl as his child.
The CCTV footage, which eventually went viral on social media, showed the man and the girl entering the room. Less than a minute later, the child was seen running out from the room with the old man chasing her.
Police said the girl told her mother that the man asked for help in carrying his baggage to the motel. Sensing danger, the child quickly fled as shown on CCTV.
Earlier, Kabacan Mayor Evangeline Pascua-Guzman has offered a P100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
Now detained at the PNP detention facility, the suspect is facing charges for illegal possession of a firearm and prohibited drugs on top of the attempted child molestation charges./coa
