
ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is on high alert, readying its search-and-rescue personnel for immediate deployment as Super Typhoon Bavi, which will be locally named Inday, approaches the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Police Col. Wilbert B. Parilla, ICPO director, ordered the activation of all police units over the weekend, well ahead of the typhoon’s expected entry. Station commanders have been instructed to coordinate with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and continuously monitor weather bulletins issued by PAGASA.

To ensure operational readiness, key ICPO officials conducted a full accounting of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team and an inventory of all rescue equipment on Tuesday morning, led by Police Maj. Shella Mae A. Sangrines, Officer-in-Charge of the City Community Affairs and Development Unit (CCADU) and Chief of the Public Information Office (PIO), alongside Police Lieutenant Marites L. Delay and City Executive Senior Police Officer (CESPO) Rommel J. Nandin.

Currently, SAR teams are on standby for immediate deployment.
Meanwhile, other police personnel have been tasked with traffic management, public safety assistance, and the localized dissemination of weather advisories, particularly in flood-prone areas. Mobile patrol units are also intensifying their monitoring of critical zones to ensure rapid response to any emergencies.
“The safety of our communities remains our top priority. ICPO is fully prepared to respond to emergencies and provide the necessary assistance to those who may be affected by Typhoon Inday,” Parilla stated. “We encourage the public to stay informed and take all necessary precautions.”/coa
