Prosecutors have put businessman and
former journalist Valter Lavitola under investigation for
allegedly commissioning bomb attack at the home of Rai
investigative reporter Sigfrido Ranucci last year, sources said.
Last week Carabinieri police arrested four people accused of
carrying out the attack, in which a bomb was detonated in front
of the gate to the journalist's home in Pomezia, near Rome, on
October 16, 2025, destroying two cars parked on the street, his
and his daughter's, and damaging a wall.
They were allegedly paid several thousand euros to carry out the
attack.
Carabinieri have seized Lavitola's phone and computer under a
warrant issued by the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), the sources
said.
Investigators are still at work to establish the motive for the
bombing.
Ranucci presents Report, a hard-hitting show on State
broadcaster Rai that focuses on alleged crime and corruption.
He already had a security detail due to threats before the
bombing.
