
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and India agreed to amplify the voices of Global South countries in international forums while supporting the resolution of various conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and international law.
The agreement was conveyed at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which also discussed various regional and global issues.
"Prime Minister Modi and I also exchanged views on various regional and global issues. We continue to support various efforts to advance global peace and stability, and ensure that the voices of the Global South are heard," Prabowo stated.
Regarding the Indo-Pacific region, both countries are committed to realizing a free, open, transparent, peaceful region based on international law, while upholding ASEAN centrality.
On the Middle East situation, the head of state said that both countries have agreed to support conflict resolution through dialogue, diplomacy, and international law.
"We also continue to support dialogue, diplomacy, and international law as a path to peaceful conflict resolution in the Middle East," he noted.
According to Prabowo, the commitment reflects the determination of both countries to promote global peace through fair and inclusive multilateral diplomacy.
The series of their agenda started with a tête-à-tête meeting in Prabowo's office, followed by a bilateral meeting, a state banquet at the State Palace, and a joint statement.
The two also witnessed the signing and announcement of 16 cooperation documents between Indonesia and India.
The 16 documents cover cooperation between government institutions and companies in various fields, ranging from space exploration and defense, health, agriculture, telecommunications, and education.
PM Modi will stay in Indonesia for a two-day working visit, during which he is also scheduled to visit Prambanan Temple on July 8.
