Records showed he was convicted in 2007 for sexually abusing a male minor in Thailand. He also served a prison sentence in Cambodia for a similar offense involving two male teenagers, aged 11 and 14, according to PNP.
Authorities further established that the foreign national was apprehended in the country for violating Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
In 2022, the Canadian was again charged for molesting a male minor in Biñan, Laguna.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest is part of the enforcement efforts against fugitives involved in serious crimes.
“The Philippines will not serve as a sanctuary for fugitives who prey on the vulnerable. Through sustained cooperation with our international and local law enforcement partners, the PNP will continue to locate and apprehend individuals who seek to evade justice,” Nartatez said. /jpv
