
Jakarta (ANTARA) - India agreed to deepen agricultural cooperation with Indonesia by supplying wheat seeds and sharing sustainable farming technologies to strengthen food security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after talks with President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday.
"We will also supply wheat seeds developed in India to strengthen Indonesia's food security. We will also share best practices in sustainable farming and agrotechnology," Modi said during a bilateral meeting in Jakarta.
Agricultural cooperation was among the key issues discussed during the bilateral meeting between the Indonesian and Indian delegations led by the two leaders.
Modi said India would provide locally developed wheat seeds and share expertise in sustainable farming and agricultural technology to help boost productivity.
India is the world's largest producer of milk and spices and the second-largest producer of rice, wheat, pulses, cotton and sugarcane.
Modi said India is committed to sharing its agricultural research, experience and technologies developed in recent years.

He said India has attracted more young people to agriculture by combining modern technology with traditional farming methods.
The country has adopted innovations including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, drones and sensors to monitor crops and improve irrigation efficiency.
Indian startups are also developing smartphone-controlled autonomous tractors to support agricultural automation.
Modi said government support for startups and agricultural technology financing has encouraged more young people to pursue modern, more productive farming.
Modi's state visit included a private meeting with Prabowo, bilateral talks, a state banquet and a joint statement.
The leaders also witnessed the signing and announcement of 16 bilateral cooperation documents.
Modi is making a two-day visit to Indonesia and is scheduled to visit Prambanan Temple on Wednesday.
