Cadela Carlota has plenty to celebrate this summer, with a successful adoption event, another generous community donation, and the launch of a unique charity beer that will be celebrated with a Doggy Pub Crawl through Lagos on Thursday, July 16.
Our latest Meet & Greet at The Collab Bar brought together six of our rescue dogs and local residents for a morning filled with cuddles, smiles and plenty of wagging tails. These events are designed to give our dogs the opportunity to meet potential adopters in a relaxed setting, away from the shelter.
One dog, however, stole the show.
Seven-month-old Spencer quickly became everyone’s favourite. This gentle giant may still have all the enthusiasm of a teenager, but he walks beautifully on a lead, adores children and loves being around people. Having previously lived in a family home, shelter life has been a huge change for him. We know he has so much love to give and are hopeful he will soon find the forever home he deserves.
A huge thank you goes to The Collab Bar for hosting us so warmly, to our wonderful volunteers who made the event possible, and to everyone who came along to meet the dogs. Every conversation, cuddle and shared photograph helps another rescue dog move one step closer to finding a family.
We are equally grateful to John and Paulo from the Pickle Ball Club in Lagos, whose ongoing support continues to make a real difference. Through John’s pickleball coaching sessions, an incredible €1,000 has been raised for Cadela Carlota. That generosity will directly help provide food, veterinary treatment and daily care for the many dogs and cats currently in our care.
This month also marks the launch of an exciting partnership with Lisbon’s award-winning Dois Corvos Brewery. Together we have created Oooh, Big Stretch, a special New England IPA brewed to support our adoption programme. Every can features a QR code linking people directly to the dogs waiting for homes at Cadela Carlota.
To celebrate the launch, everyone is invited to join our Doggy Pub Crawl on Thursday, 16 July. The evening begins at 5pm at Captain Crumpet, moves on to Pie at 6pm, before finishing at The Collab Bar at 7pm, just in time for our weekly charity quiz.
Supporters are encouraged to bring their own dogs along, especially those who have been adopted from Cadela Carlota, as the event is designed to celebrate successful adoptions as well as introduce some of our current rescue dogs to new people. Whether you join us for one stop or the whole evening, every pint enjoyed and every conversation about adoption helps change a dog’s future.
