MANILA, Philippines — The driver’s license of a driver who reportedly stabbed another motorist in Taguig City has been revoked for two years by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the agency said on Tuesday.
This came after the LTO said it issued a show-cause order against the driver on May 9 over a viral road rage in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Citing the viral video, two motorcycle drivers were involved in a confrontation, with one of the riders stabbing the other rider with a screwdriver.

The LTO then instructed the driver, who attacked the other driver, to appear in a hearing before its Intelligence and Investigation Division last May 14.
The alleged offender was ordered to explain why he should not be held administratively liable for being an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.”
The agency also suspended the driver’s license for 90 days and ordered the him to surrender it while the investigation is ongoing.
The LTO said that the driver who made the assault surrendered the driver’s license during the hearing.

“Based on the decision of the agency, the driver is imposed with revocation of driver’s license for two years over violation of provision of Improper to Operate a Motor Vehicle,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

LTO chief Markus Lacanilao then warned motorists not to engage in any incidents that will threaten public safety.
“Improper behavior of a motorist has no place on the road. Any motorist who will show a behavior that can endanger others will be held liable under the law and guidelines of the LTO,” Lacanilao said in an earlier press release. /apl
