
MANILA, Philippines — The House prosecution panel requested on Tuesday that the impeachment court issue subpoenas for the bank and tax records of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Spokesperson Regie Tongol confirmed that the impeachment court received the requests on Tuesday afternoon, on the second day of Duterte’s trial.
“The request for issuance of subpoena duces tecum regarding the tax documents of [Duterte], Mans Carpio, and 22 businesses which [Duterte] allegedly has interest in was received on July 6, 2026 at 3:35 p.m. by the clerk of the impeachment court,” Tongol told the media.

He added: “A renewed request for issuance of subpoena duces tecum for bank records as addressed to Hon. Eli Remolona Jr., as chairman of the AMLC (Anti-Money Laundering Council), was received on July 6, 2026 at 3:35 p.m. by the clerk of the impeachment court.”

The impeachment court will forward the request to Duterte’s defense team, who will then be given five days to file a comment or opposition.
Following this, oral arguments will be scheduled to settle the request.
The House previously expressed intent to request the subpoena, as the financial records of the vice president may be used in tackling the second impeachment article, referring to Duterte’s supposed unexplained wealth. /apl
