A total of 997 babies have been born through IVF and IUI in Malta between 2013 and 2025, according to information tabled by Health Minister Ian Borg.
The figures show that 947 babies were born through in vitro fertilisation (IVF), while a further 50 babies were born through intrauterine insemination (IUI).
The total is expected to continue rising, with 37 more babies due to be born from pregnancies resulting from treatment cycles between October and December 2025.
Another 74 babies are also expected from treatment cycles carried out between January and June 2026.
If all pregnancies continue as expected, the total number of babies born through IVF and IUI in Malta since 2013 will reach 1,109.
