World number one Jannik Sinner beat
big-serving German veteran Jan-Lennard Struff Tuesday to set up
a possible semi-final with Serb great Novak Djokovic in the
Italian's bid to retain his Wimbledon title.
Sinner, 24, overcame the 36-year-old, who was in his maiden
Wimbledon quarter-final, by 7-5, 7-6, 6-3.
Seventh seed Djokovic, 39, faces 25-year-old Canadian number
three seed Félix Auger-Aliassime later Tuesday in his quest to
notch a record 25th slam.
The semi will tale place on Friday.
Sinner said Struff was "a great person off the court and a very
tough opponent who started better than me."
"I'm very happy to be in the semi-final.
"The second set could have ended in a different way, I was more
relaxed in the third set.
Asked about the heat after he collapsed in the second round of
Roland-Garris and lost to world number 54 Juan Manuel Cerundolo
of Argentina from two sets and 5-1 up, Sinner said: "We worked a
lot after Paris and I don't think that's going to happen again.
