
BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines — Separate anti-illegal drug operations across the Negros Island Region on Sunday resulted in a combined P17.51 million haul of suspected shabu and the arrest of two high-value drug targets, authorities reported on Monday.
The consecutive operations, spearheaded by regional police units and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), led to the confiscation of over 2.5 kilograms of illicit drugs in Bacolod City and Bacong, Negros Oriental.
In Bacolod City, a designated high-value individual listed under the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watch list was apprehended on Sunday in Purok Kamunsil, Barangay 3, the police reported.

The suspect, identified by his alias “Wayway,” is a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Barangay 1.

The sting was executed by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), with assistance from the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and Police Station 2, after a poseur-buyer and an informant successfully negotiated a transaction with the suspect.
Intelligence validation revealed that “Wayway” began working as an illegal drug runner in early 2026 after his wife gave birth to their third child.

He allegedly received distribution instructions from an undisclosed source via cellphone calls, subsequently delivering bulk volumes of shabu to downlines across Barangays 1, 4, 35, and adjacent neighborhoods.
During the arrest, operatives confiscated approximately 2,075 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P14.11 million, alongside 21 knot-tied plastic bags, four smaller sachets, and P6,000 in buy-bust money.

The suspect remains in the custody of Police Station 2 pending formal charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Meanwhile, a separate crackdown in Negros Oriental led by the PDEA resulted in the arrest of a female high-value target and the confiscation of suspected shabu valued at P3.4 million.
PDEA and local police operatives conducted the undercover sting on Sunday night in Barangay Sulodpan, Bacong town.
The suspect, a 32-year-old unemployed woman was caught red-handed after selling the illegal substance to an undercover agent, the PDEA reported.
