President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, at the State House, Abuja.
The visit was disclosed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his X handle.
Onanuga said Tinubu received His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, at the State House on Tuesday.
He did not disclose details of what both leaders discussed.
He posted, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, of the United Arab Emirates UAE at the State House on Tuesday”
Photographs accompanying the post showed Tinubu, dressed in traditional attire, warmly welcoming Al Nahyan before both leaders settled into a closed-door meeting flanked by the Nigerian flag.

The visit comes months after Tinubu was received by Al Nahyan at the Presidential Wing of the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi in January, when the Nigerian leader arrived for the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Al Nahyan has served as the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs since February 2021.
He previously served as the Gulf nation’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia between 2017 and 2021 and once chaired the UAE Equestrian Federation.
Tuesday’s meeting comes as the Tinubu administration continues to deepen bilateral engagements with Gulf nations, particularly the UAE, in trade, investment and security cooperation.
Details of the discussion between both leaders had not been released as of the time of filing this report.
