
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The police have arrested Marinduque province’s most wanted fugitive during a joint manhunt operation in Barangay Marketsite in Mogpog town on Tuesday (July 7).
The 24-year-old suspect, whose identity was withheld to protect victims of sexual offenses, was apprehended on the strength of a June 29 warrant of arrest issued by the Family Court, Branch 9 of the Fourth Judicial Region in Boac town, Marinduque.
The suspect is facing a charge of rape by sexual assault under the second paragraph of Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code in Criminal Case No. 183-26. The court has recommended bail amounting to P200,000.

The arrested suspect is under police custody and will be turned over to the courts.

The manhunt was undertaken by the Mogpog Municipal Police Station, together with the Marinduque Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Marinduque Provincial Highway Patrol Group, and the Provincial Intelligence Team of the Regional Intelligence Unit 4B, according to the Police Regional Office of Mimaropa (Region IV-B composed of Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan). /das
