Edeh Michael emerged as the overall winner in Category One at the 10th Chief Mike Nkwoji Memorial Golf Tournament after returning an impressive net score of 76 at the Aba Sports Club 1926.
Michael finished ahead of S. T. Ajah, who posted 77 net to claim second place, while U.C. Anuruo settled for third with a net score of 81.
The tournament, which marked the 10th and final edition of the annual memorial event, attracted more than 200 amateur golfers and top professionals who competed throughout the day. Play teed off at 7 a.m. and concluded with the traditional “Hole 19” ceremony at 3 p.m., symbolising the camaraderie that defines the game.
Members of the Nkwoji family, led by Iyom Ongodi Nkwoji and her son, Obi Nkwoji, joined golfers on the course to celebrate the enduring legacy of Chief Mike Nkwoji and his contributions to Aba Sports Club and the wider community.
In Category Two, Ronnis Eronini (handicap 14) claimed top honours with a net score of 69, while Orji Nwokeka and Mike Jaja finished second and third respectively. Ossy Adubasim won Category Three, ahead of Anowa Kingsley and Grando Timitimi.
Samuel Udensi edged Martins Orizu on count-back after both golfers returned 80 net to win Category Four, with Aba Sports Club Golf Captain, Sir Bona Anyadiaso, placing third.
Other winners included Ogben Ifeanyi in the Veteran Men category and Jerry O. Kalu in the Super Veteran Men division.
In the ladies’ events, Susan Cole-Kotas (handicap 15) won the Handicap 0–18 category with 83 net, defeating Love Okoho and Osinachi Ndukwu. Uwabor Angela claimed the Handicap 19–28 title, while Ebere Omeziri won the Handicap 29–36 category. Ifeyinwa Udeagbale and Martha Umeweni emerged winners in the Veteran and Super Veteran Ladies categories respectively.
Udeh Sunday and Ochade Ajabor won the men’s and ladies’ longest drive awards, while Kio Lucky claimed the nearest-to-the-pin prize.
Winners received trophies and prizes during the closing ceremony, with Sir Bona Anyadiaso thanking participants, sponsors and volunteers for making the landmark edition a memorable success.
