
LUCENA CITY –A suspected drug trafficker was caught with P578,000 worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) and an unlicensed firearm during a drug bust shortly before midnight on Tuesday in Laguna’s Calamba City.
In a police spot report that was released on Wednesday, the Police Regional Office 4A said anti-narcotics operatives arrested the suspect, identified only by the alias “Larry,” after he allegedly sold P500 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer in Barangay Banlic at around 11:05 p.m.

Authorities said they recovered 13 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing about 85 grams of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Based on the Dangerous Drugs Board’s standard valuation of P6,800 per gram, the confiscated illegal drugs were estimated to be worth P578,000.
During a body search following the arrest, police also recovered from the suspect an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
Larry is listed as a high-value individual (HVI) in the police drug watch list, a classification that includes alleged drug financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, importers, and members of drug syndicates.
The suspect remains in police custody and is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and for illegal possession of a firearm./coa
