2027: Gombe stakeholders back Jamilu Gwamna’s gov’ship bid

Prominent stakeholders in Gombe State have endorsed Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, describing him as their choice candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

A statement issued by his spokesman, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, said the endorsement was made during a high-level Gombe State Stakeholders’ Engagement held in Abuja and chaired by the Special Adviser on General Duties to the Vice President, Dr Aliyu Modibbo Umar.

He said the meeting brought together distinguished personalities from Gombe who are committed to promoting the unity, progress, and sustainable development of the state.

“The stakeholders represented a broad and influential cross-section of society, including four former ministers, four retired Major Generals, one retired Air Vice Marshal, several retired Permanent Secretaries, three retired ambassadors, accomplished professors, seasoned administrators, captains of industry, and vibrant young professionals.

“After extensive deliberations on the political future of Gombe State and preparations for the 2027 General Elections, the forum unanimously adopted a number of strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening political cohesion, enhancing grassroots mobilisation, and consolidating support for the APC,” he said.

Shawai added that among the resolutions was the unanimous endorsement of Dr Gwamna for the governor of Gombe State in 2027, citing confidence in his leadership capacity, vision, and commitment to advancing the peace, prosperity, and sustainable development of Gombe State as major reasons for the endorsement.

He stated that the meeting also reaffirmed that the platform remains a voluntary consultative body established to complement the efforts of the APC, the Government of Gombe State, elected officials, and other political actors.

Shawai said the forum further resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all Local Government Areas, Wards, and Polling Units, “to encourage voter registration and civic participation, sustain engagement with the electorate, and promote issue-based politics anchored on competence, integrity, inclusiveness, and evidence-based planning.

In his remarks, Dr Gwamna explained that the endorsement strengthens his resolve to remain focused, disciplined, and people-oriented in his mission.
