A potentially dangerous rock has been removed from Mġarr ix-Xini following a coordinated operation carried out yesterday to make the popular swimming spot safer for visitors.
The large rock had been identified as a safety risk for people swimming and visiting the bay, prompting authorities to launch a carefully planned removal operation.
The operation brought together the Civil Protection Department (CPD), Malta Public Transport, Maritime Protection officials, the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) and the Ministry for Gozo.
Thanks to careful planning and teamwork, the rock was safely removed, significantly reducing the risk for those enjoying one of Gozo’s most picturesque bays.
