Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested three suspected drug traffickers allegedly linked to the supply of illicit substances to terrorists and other criminal groups in Katsina State.
The suspects were apprehended during a joint operation conducted on Tuesday at about 5:15 p.m. in Kagara village, Kafur Local Government Area, according to security sources.
The operation involved personnel of the Forward Operating Base, Malumfashi and officers of the NDLEA Area Command, Malumfashi, who acted on intelligence targeting suspected drug distribution points in the community.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a post on X, quoted sources as saying the operation was aimed at disrupting the supply of narcotics and other intoxicants to criminal groups operating in the area.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Lawan (34), Muhawiya Haruna (40), and Junadata Usman (40).

Items recovered during the operation included substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution, and a locally known intoxicant referred to as “Suck and Die” spirit.
Quoting the security sources, Makama wrote, “The sources said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in supplying hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to terrorists and criminal elements operating within Kafur and neighbouring communities.”
According to the post, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were involved in supplying hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to terrorists and criminal elements operating in Kafur and surrounding communities.
The suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle the logistics and supply chains that support terrorism, banditry and other organised crimes across Katsina state.
