RI seeks job opportunities from stronger relations with India

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister for Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin expressed hopes on the closer relationship between Indonesia and India to open wider employment opportunities for Indonesians seeking jobs abroad.

"The ministry fully supports President Prabowo Subianto's decision," he said in a statement received here on Wednesday.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto awarded "Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna" to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 7). Mukhtarudin conveyed his full support for President Subianto to bestow the award.

He views Modi's leadership has not only succeeded in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries to the comprehensive strategic partnership, but has also opened up broader opportunities for collaboration, including in the employment and worker protection sectors.

"This award is a symbol of the highest appreciation for PM Modi's commitment to building strong relations with Indonesia. This synergy provides a solid foundation for strengthening cooperation in various areas, including opportunities to empower governance and protect migrant workers," he remarked.​​​​​​​

Mukhtarudin stated the continuity of this good relationship is a valuable asset for Indonesia on the international stage, especially since the visit generates several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the fields of health, technology, energy, and strengthening economic and investment cooperation.

"This comprehensive cooperation, witnessed directly by the two leaders, opens up significant opportunities for technology transfer and improving the quality of Indonesian human resources," he said.​​​​​​​

Mukhtarudin expressed hope the strong relationship between Indonesia and India would contribute positively to expanding formal employment opportunities and strengthening the protection of Indonesian workers worldwide.

Meanwhile, Adipurna Award is the highest civilian honor awarded by the state to figures who are deemed to have made extraordinary contributions in strengthening bilateral relations or making important contributions to the interests of the Indonesian nation and state.
