Italy 'did very bad' with decisions on its bases Trump says
Rome refused permission for bombers to use Sicilian base during Iran war

United States President Donald Trump
said Wednesday that Italy "did very bad" with its decisions on
the use of its bases as he spoke to NATO Secretary General Mark
Rutte before the start of the NATO summit in Ankara.
Italy denied Washington permission for its bombers to use the
Sigonella air base in Sicily during the Iran war in March.
Rome's refusal to get involved in the Iran war has led to
tension between Trump and Premier Giorgia Meloni, who had
previously enjoyed a friendly relationship.
He has made several digs at her, most recently posting a video
of her looking up at him captioned "Restraining Order Needed".
She did not respond.
On Tuesday Trump said he liked Meloni and considered her a "good
person" while reiterating his complaint that "she wasn't there
for us" over the Iran war.
