MANILA, Philippines – The impeachment court will issue a subpoena to Vice President Sara Duterte’s Chief of Staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez on Wednesday, the court’s spokesperson, Reginald Tongol confirmed.
It was the House prosecution panel who requested for a subpoena ad testificandum to Lopez.
“On the request for issuance of subpoena ad testificandum to Atty. Zuleika Lopez, the presiding officer granted the same and will be issued today,” Tongol told the media.

Lopez will be presented by the prosecution panel to testify as the court examines impeachment Article IV, which pertains to Duterte’s alleged assassination threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Rep. Martin Romualdez.
Prior to the approximately two-and-a-half-hour online press briefing on November 23, 2024, where Duterte made such threats, Lopez was cited for contempt by the House committee on good government and public accountability for undue interference.
This led to Lopez’s detention in the lower chamber, where, in the same press briefing as Duterte, Lopez claimed her life was being threatened. /gsg
