
President Trump early Wednesday said the ceasefire with Iran is “over” and declared he didn’t “want to deal with them anymore” after both sides traded strikes overnight and the U.S. revoked a sanctions waiver that allowed Tehran to sell oil and petrochemicals.
Trump spoke from the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. He’s scheduled to host a press conference around 9:15 a.m. EDT, after meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The NATO trip is fraught with flash points.
Talks to reach a final deal with Tehran had been expected to resume following the weeklong funeral for Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameinei, who was killed Feb. 28 in the war’s first moments and will be buried Thursday.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on Maine, where Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner is under pressure to exit the race over a sexual assault allegation. The party is now scrambling to find a new candidate in the must-win race, should Platner exit, as Democrats seek to flip the Senate this fall.
