Masbate braces for super typhoon; evacuation in some parts ordered

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — The provincial government of Masbate has ordered the evacuation of residents near high-risk areas on Wednesday due to the threat of Super Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) and the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

Gov. Ricardo Kho said local officials were directed to implement preemptive and forced evacuations of vulnerable residents living in low-lying and coastal areas.

Small sea vessels and watercrafts were prohibited from sailing.

School heads were also advised to suspend classes if the weather worsens. /gsg
