Wine lovers will once again be able to enjoy free wine tastings at some of Portugal’s most popular seaside destinations this summer as the Vinhos do Tejo (Tejo Wines) roadshow returns for another tour.
Running over six weekends from July 11 to August 16, the initiative will visit six coastal locations across Portugal, offering visitors the chance to sample a selection of refreshing Tejo white and rosé wines at no cost.
The tour begins on the Silver Coast with stops at Foz do Arelho (July 11-12), Areia Branca (July 18-19) and Baleal (July 25-26), before heading south to the Algarve.
The Algarve programme starts at Fuseta Beach, in Olhão, on August 1 and 2, continues along Quarteira’s seafront on August 8 and 9, and concludes at Jardim da Constituição in Lagos on August 15 and 16.
Visitors will be able to taste nine wines from five producers in the Tejo region, including Adega de Almeirim, Quinta da Alorna, Falua, Fiuza and Quinta do Casal Branco. The selection features fresh, fruit-forward whites and rosés chosen for summer drinking, with recommended retail prices ranging from €2.30 to €8.50.
In addition to the complimentary tastings, everyone who samples the wines will be invited to spin a Wheel of Fortune for the chance to win a variety of beach-themed prizes, including frisbees, playing cards, fans, straw hats, inflatable beach balls, inflatable cushions and parasols.
Organised by the Tejo Regional Wine Commission (CVR Tejo) in partnership with Almeirim Municipality, the roadshow has been bringing Tejo wines to Portugal’s beaches for almost a decade.
