(NEXSTAR) – It has been a summer of foodborne illnesses and product recalls, which may have you checking everything from your medicine cabinet to your garage to see whether your items are impacted.
It is not uncommon for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be investigating multistate outbreaks spurred by germs, of for food, household items, and vehicles to have recalls issued against them.
However, you should take recalls seriously, as the reason behind them may cause injury or illness to you.
Here’s a look at some of the recent recalls that could be impacting items in your home:
Blueberries, cheese, nuggets, and patties
Frozen blueberries sold at Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have been recalled over concerns that they may be contaminated with E. coli. Several people who consumed the blueberries reported experiencing digestive illnesses.
In late June, additional cheese products were recalled by a Maryland-based producer in connection with a deadly listeria outbreak. The Requesón Salvadoreño (Salvadoran Cottage Cheese) and Requesón Mexicano (Mexican Cottage Cheese) were sold in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. You can check the list of impacted items here.
Some plant-based nuggets and sausage patties were recalled by Morningstar Farms due to concerns about plastic pieces. The impacted Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties, which you can view here, were sold nationwide.
Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles
Windshield wipers and washing systems that could become faulty in cold weather prompted a recall of 2025 and 2026 Ford Mustang GTDs and the 2024-2026 Ford Mustangs. Another group of Mustangs, 2021-2023 Mach E models, may have rear differential pinion shafts that could fracture. Owners of any Mustang models impacted by these issues, totaling more than 110,000, are expected to be notified by Ford this month.
More than 740,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles have been recalled because damage to the park system may cause them to move after being shifted into Park. An estimated 1% of the recalled vehicles may contain the defect. You can view the list of impacted Ford and Lincoln models here.
An improperly tightened nut led General Motors to recall certain 2025-2026 Chevrolet Express and 2025-2026 GMC Savana models. The loose nut could cause the driver to lose control of steering and increase the risk of crashing. Official notifications are expected to be sent to owners next month.
Medications, vitamins, and nasal spray
Nearly 1 million bottles of Corlanor, typically prescribed to adults with chronic heart failure, were recalled nationwide because they may contain a foreign substance.
Thousands of bottles of the blood pressure medication Chlorthalidone, also sold nationwide, were recalled because of “failed dissolution specifications.” Details about the recalled medication can be found here.
Potentially elevated levels of cancer-causing substances prompted a recall of thousands of bottles of Duloxetine, a popular antidepressant. You can find additional details about the impacted capsules here.
NOW PLAYING
Multiple moringa-based products were recalled late last month over possible salmonella contamination. They’re also part of a CDC-led foodborne illness outbreak investigation.
Select bottles of Beekeeper’s Naturals Saline Nasal Spray, sold on Amazon, were recalled over possible mold and yeast contamination. Impacted sprays, which have Lot No. 5950, were accidentally sent to Amazon before testing was completed, officials said.
Shampoo may have infectious bacterium
A voluntary recall was issued earlier this month for Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo. Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria was detected in the shampoo, company officials said.
Only specific bottles of the shampoo, sold in 8.5- and 33.8-ounce bottles, have been recalled. You can view impacted date and lot codes here.
Pet food
Select cans of Pedigree’s High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor wet food were recently recalled because they may have metal and plastic pieces. There had been no reports of dogs becoming ill or injured at the time the recall was issued on July 2. Impacted cans have lot codes 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC.
Last month, over 400,000 pounds of pet food sold by Raaw Energy, LLC, were recalled over possible Listeria contamination. Nearly 60 different products were impacted; you can see that list here.
Fire risk prompts vacuum recall
Yes, even your cleaning supplies could be impacted by a recall.
Two models of Rowenta cordless vacuums, which were sold between July 2023 and January 2026, have been voluntarily recalled because their lithium-ion batteries could overheat and ignite. (The same batteries have led to restrictions on common travel items, too.)
The recalled vacuum models, which you can view here, were sold via Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Rowenta’s website, Shopify, Amazon, and Walmart.
