MANILA, Philippines — The Alas Pilipinas women’s team under coach Taka Minowa has started training ahead of the SEA V.Cup — a major part of its build-up for the Asian Games in September.
Alas Pilipinas on Wednesday evening posted photos of training with Japanese coach Minowa.

Jaja Santiago (Sachi Minowa), the wife of Minowa and former national team star, was seen at the practice.
During her visit to the Volleyball Nations League Week 2, the Japan SV.League best blocker revealed that one of her plans was to help her husband in his coaching gig before she goes to the United States in the League One Volleyball starting in January.
The 6-foot-5 Santiago was part of the last Asian Games team in 2018 before her last national team appearance in the 2022 Southeast Asian Games and then she became a Japanese citizen.

The previous Alas Pilipinas core, led by Jia De Guzman, Bella Belen, Vanie Gandler, Mars Alba, Eya Laure, Dell Palomata, Jen Nierva, and Dawn Macandili-Catindig, trained with the pool.
Alyssa Solomon and Niña Ytang, who played in the AVC Women’s Cup in Candon City, were also seen in practice with newcomers Erika Santos and National University’s Vange Alinsug, Shaira Jardio, Celine Marsh, and Arah Panique.
The PVL recently reaffirmed its policy regarding national team athletes. Players who are officially part of the Philippine national team delegation for an international tournament or those actively engaged in official national team activities will not be allowed to suit up in PVL On Tour matches.

National team members may only participate if they are not included in an official delegation and there are no scheduled national team commitments.
The SEA V.Cup will take place in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, for Leg 1 from July 31 to August 2 and in Chiangmai, Thailand, for Leg 2 from August 7 to 9.
