Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has issued written warnings to 22 digital platform operators that have yet to register as official Electronic System Operators (PSEs) following last week's notifications.
According to Indonesian law, all domestic and foreign entities operating electronic systems in the country are required to register with the government as part of efforts to protect users.
“Through this warning letter, we are giving these PSEs an opportunity to immediately fulfill their registration requirements before we take legal enforcement action in accordance with prevailing regulations,” said Alexander Sabar, the ministry's Director General of Digital Space Oversight, in a statement confirmed on Thursday.
The ministry previously announced on Wednesday (July 1) that it had notified 25 private-sector operators to comply with the registration mandate.
Of the 25 operators, three immediately complied with the notice: PT Ayo Indonesia Maju (owner of the AYO Super Sport Community mobile app), Six Continents Hotels, Inc. (owner of the Six Senses mobile app), and Strava Inc. (the developer behind the Strava fitness tracking app).
Meanwhile, the remaining 22 operators have yet to be registered with the government's system. These include hospitality management companies like Accor S.A., Archipelago International Indonesia, and Aryaduta Hotels Group.
Consequently, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs issued the written warnings as part of its ongoing compliance monitoring under current regulations.
The government has set a July 13, 2026 deadline for the operators to comply. Failure to register will result in enforcement actions, including blocking access to their digital platforms.
Alexander added that the ministry is open to providing clarifications or assistance for any operators facing technical difficulties or other hurdles during the registration process.
“All private-sector operators must comply with the applicable regulations to ensure orderly and responsible digital governance in Indonesia,” he stressed.
