
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The fire that broke out in a residential area in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City on Thursday morning, July 9, left a man with burn injuries and damaged four houses, causing an estimated P225,000 in property losses.
According to the Cebu City Fire Station’s initial report, the Labangon fire occurred along Balaga Drive in Sitio Cecalco.
The incident was reported at 7:51 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene two minutes later, raised the first alarm, and declared the fire out at 8:31 a.m.

Fire authorities said one residential structure was totally destroyed, while three others were partially damaged. The blaze affected around 150 square meters of the area.
The fire also affected seven families, or a total of 34 individuals.
A male resident sustained first-degree burns on his face and upper extremities during the Labangon fire. No fatalities were reported.
The administrator of the affected rental property, which is owned by his family, said the occupants were mostly married couples working in nearby areas.
He added that the rental property has been standing for decades and is older than him. The administrator, who is 74 years old, said the apartments have been in existence longer than he has.
A total of 10 response units, including four Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire trucks, one ambulance, and five auxiliary response units, responded to the Labangon fire incident.
As of posting time, fire investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and how it started.
