
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Thursday said there will be no term extension for outgoing Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police chief Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan.
This is despite Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s request to the National Police Commission to extend the active service of Marantan for one year.

“There is no extension for General Marantan. He may be able to help in other ways,” said Palace press officer Claire Castro at a briefing.

Marantan is set to reach the mandatory Philippine National Police retirement age of 56 on July 10.
He served as director of the Highway Patrol Group before being appointed chief of the Calabarzon police. /gsg
