
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Talibon, Bohol has issued an ashfall advisory, urging residents to take precautionary measures following the moderately explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Thursday.
According to the advisory, residents should remain indoors as much as possible and wear an N95 mask when going outside.
If an N95 mask is unavailable, authorities recommend wearing two regular face masks or covering the nose and mouth with a clean, damp cloth.

The public is also encouraged to wear goggles or protective eyewear to shield their eyes from volcanic ash.
The MDRRMO advised residents to keep windows and doors closed to prevent ash from entering homes, cover food and drinking water to avoid contamination, and avoid unnecessary travel. Motorists who need to go out are urged to drive carefully and keep their vehicle headlights on due to reduced visibility.
Children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory illnesses are especially encouraged to avoid exposure to volcanic ash, which may pose health risks.
Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-Phivolcs) confirmed a moderately explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano, which remains under Alert Level 2, indicating moderate unrest.

Authorities also warned that parts of Cebu may experience volcanic haze or ashfall that could affect air quality, prompting residents to remain vigilant and follow health and safety recommendations.

The MDRRMO urged the public to monitor official updates from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-Phivolcs), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), and local government units, and to refrain from sharing unverified information.
