MANILA, Philippines — After her best Grand Slam campaign yet at Wimbledon, Alex Eala heads home for a short break before beginning her buildup for the hardcourt season and the US Open.
Eala will hold a fan meet on July 15 at Glorietta Activity Center to thank her Filipino fans.

The Filipino tennis ace made the nation proud once again after reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon–the deepest a Filipino has advanced in a Grand Slam singles tournament.
The 21-year-old Eala advanced beyond the first two rounds in her sixth Grand Slam main-draw appearance —and second at Wimbledon–before dethroning defending champion Iga Swiatek in the third round.
Eala’s impressive run ended in the Round of 16, where she fell to Jasmine Paolini in three sets.

The Rafa Nadal Academy graduate will next compete in the Mubadala DC Open, a WTA 500 tournament in Washington, scheduled from July 27 to August 2.
Eala will then head to Toronto for the National Bank Open, a WTA 1000 event, from August 2 to 13. She also competed in the tournament last year and exited in the opening round.
Before the US Open, Eala is expected to take part in the Stars of the Open, a US Open Fan Week event, on August 27 alongside fellow young stars Joao Fonseca, Iva Jovic and Learner Tien.

The pride of the Philippines is set for her second US Open main-draw appearance, a year after earning her first Grand Slam main-draw victory as a professional.
From World No. 32, Eala is also expected to climb to a new career-high ranking of No. 28 following her Wimbledon run.
