After more than 24 hours stranded in Norway, Ħamrun Spartans have finally landed in the Faroe Islands, bringing an end to a gruelling travel ordeal that had threatened their UEFA Conference League campaign.
CEO Marcel Bonnici described the situation as “desperate”, revealing the club had spent thousands of euros on unexpected accommodation in Norway while also covering hotel bookings in the Faroe Islands.
He also warned that the exhausting journey had taken a physical and mental toll on the players.
Thankfully, the weather finally cleared enough for the team to complete the journey, allowing Ħamrun Spartans to arrive in time and keep their European hopes alive.
They are set to play tonight at 8.45pm.
After one of the most dramatic build-ups imaginable, all eyes now turn to the pitch.
