A new poll found that most Jewish Americans say they do not feel well represented by President Trump or the Democratic and Republican parties.
The Associated Press-NORC Center poll released Thursday found that 15 percent of Jewish Americans say the Democratic Party supports them extremely well, and 16 percent say the same about the GOP.
Thirty-three percent say the Democrats support them somewhat well, and 24 percent say the same about the Republican party.
Conversely, 41 percent of American Jews say the Democratic Party does not support them, and 49 percent say the GOP does not support them.
Both parties are also largely unpopular among Jewish American adults, with 50 percent holding an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party and 71 percent who feel the same about Republicans.
Just under half of American Jews — 49 percent — say they view the Democratic Party favorably, while 28 percent view the Republican Party favorably.
Half of Jewish adults say Trump does not support them. However, 21 percent say the president somewhat supports them, and another 21 percent say the president supports them extremely well.
The same poll found that equal shares of Jewish Americans — 19 percent — believe the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) either supports them extremely well or does not support them well at all.
Twenty percent say AIPAC somewhat supports them, while 41 percent say they don’t know.
Jewish American respondents included people who identified as religiously Jewish and as unaffiliated but identify as Jewish through culture, ethnicity or family background.
The new poll comes after the AP-NORC Center released a poll on Tuesday that found 58 percent of Democrats believe the U.S. provides Israel with too much support and 21 percent of Republicans saying the same.
Only 17 percent of Democrats and 15 percent of Republicans said the U.S. does not support Israel enough.
The polling comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. The interim peace deal ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is seemingly “over” — as Trump said Wednesday — and Israel is refusing to withdraw troops from Lebanon in its fight with Hezbollah.
The AP-NORC survey was conducted June 11-17 and included 3,040 respondents, including 1,022 Jewish adults. The margin of error is 2.8 percentage points and margin of sampling error for Jewish adults is 5 percent.
