On Thursday, ashfall reached several localities in Cebu, prompting local governments to suspend classes and, in some areas, government work while disaster officials monitored air quality and public safety.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Kanlaon remains under Alert Level 2, indicating ongoing volcanic unrest and the possibility of further sudden explosive eruptions.

Weather experts earlier explained that strong southwest monsoon winds, enhanced by Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi), carried fine volcanic ash eastward from Negros to Cebu.
Authorities continue to advise residents to wear face masks when outdoors, limit exposure to volcanic ash, protect food and water sources from contamination, and monitor official advisories from Phivolcs, Pagasa, and their respective local government units.
