Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Tourism Ministry is continuing to ramp up both domestic and international tourism promotions, while strengthening coordination with all stakeholders across the tourism ecosystem.
"Promotional efforts are vital for sustaining market demand, strengthening industry networks, opening up new market access, and maintaining the growth momentum of foreign tourist arrivals," Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said in the ministry’s monthly performance report in Jakarta on Friday.
Wardhana affirmed that tourism promotion has been strengthened through various sales missions, business matching sessions, business gatherings, forums, and international exhibitions.
To attract foreign tourists, the ministry has participated in promotional activities across several countries, including China, South Korea, India, and Malaysia, throughout May and June 2026.
Additionally, domestic tourism campaigns have been rolled out to boost domestic travel.
This series of activities generated a potential 36,807 trips, Rp7.27 billion (approximately US$402,404) in potential transactions, and up to Rp559.48 billion (around US$30.9 million) in potential foreign exchange earnings.
Tourism Deputy Minister Ni Luh Puspa added that regional events, which serve as a vital tool to stimulate local economies, are being boosted through the 2026 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) initiative.
This year, the ministry is backing the promotions of 125 selected regional events spread across 38 provinces, with 36 events having been held as of June 30.
Of the 36 events held, an impact assessment has been completed for 23, which recorded 1.34 million visitors and generated Rp90.53 billion in direct economic transactions.
Throughout June 2026, the Tourism Ministry continued to strengthen collaboration with various ministries and agencies.
The ministry conducted cross-sector coordination during a Ministerial-Level Coordination Meeting on Strengthening Airport Ecosystem Governance.
Following the meeting, the Tourism Ministry followed up on three main directives. The first was to accelerate the integrated development of four Accelerated Priority Tourism Destinations—Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo—by aligning them with regional development, airport upgrades, and flight connectivity.
The second directive was to step up promotions and develop integrated travel patterns, while the third was to align budget support, open new international flight routes, and foster synergy between local governments and airport operators to develop the four Accelerated Priority Tourism Destinations.
Furthermore, the Tourism Ministry has issued a circular on ensuring safe, comfortable, and fun tourism activities during the school holidays.
The ministry also held a coordination meeting, urging regional governments to update and validate data on disaster-prone tourist destinations to support more effective risk management.
