
COTABATO CITY—Authorities in Sarangani province said that the national highway going to the touristy town of Glan is now passable after landslide debris was cleared.
According to an advisory from the Sarangani Provincial Information Office (SPIO), one lane of the highway in Glan’s Barangay Kapatan was already passable as of 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

Personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways ramped up the clearance of the road from debris dumped by a series of landslides triggered by continuous heavy rainfall.

“Heavy equipment has been deployed to remove soil, rocks, and debris that have blocked portions of the road, ensuring the safe passage of motorists and preventing prolonged disruption of transportation in the area, to restore road accessibility as quickly as possible,” the SPIO said.
Officials remain on heightened alert and continue to coordinate response efforts to address the impacts of the current weather conditions, the SPIO added.
Police personnel were deployed to Kapatan to regulate the flow of vehicular traffic as clearing operations continue. /coa
